Western Challenge Workshop
The Western Challenge, developed by Frank Bennett, is a unique workshop that has utilized horses to change the lives and performance of hundreds of Fortune 500 company executives over the past 9 years. Frank Bennett is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program and was President, Chairman and CEO of Famous Restaurants, Vice Chairman of the Board of Garcias of Scottsdale, Senior Vice President of Sambo’s Restaurants, and Vice President of the Motel 6 Corporation. He was a featured presenter at the IABC International Conference in Los Angeles in 2004. Here is what they said about his work:
“No matter what type of organization you are in, you decide for yourself how you approach the other and what kind of leadership style you project. If you want first-hand experience of a new way of leading that is founded on trust and honest communication, then this pre-conference program may be the most important step you take.”
Secrets lead to silence, silence leads to separation, separation leads to conflict, and conflict leads to dis-organization.
Great individuals, communicating, create great companies. A powerful organization is born when the diverse contributions of towering talents are maximized, utilized and synchronized through communication.
The Western Challenge is the premier interpersonal communication-training program in the nation today. Our Equine Interaction Experience is unique in its ability to awaken the inner skills of highly effective communicators.
Learning to communicate silently with horses re-instills the primal feel for the other that all superior communicators possess in abundance. Replacing fear of the horse with understanding of his nature turns the human spirit outwards away from blinding self-absorption. Connecting body language with inner intentions builds natural communicators who, through their new congruent expression, inspire trust and leadership.
We challenge our clients to look at their inner skills through the eyes of the world’s most effective communicators, the horses. Five days on our ranch will turn your silent and secretive middle managers into charismatic leaders.
The Western Challenge was brought to The Hideout by Caroline Diehl, a summa cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College who spent 5 years as the Head Wrangler at The Hideout. Her years of humanitarian relief work in India and Africa and 10 years in the horse industry led her to join this equine assisted management-training program that utilizes horses to teach the inner elements of communication to executives from around the world. She brings an awareness of the subtleties of the human connection and a professional understanding of the lessons in effective communication that we can be “re-taught” by horses.
From the luxurious Trapper Creek Lodge at The Hideout, located on the 100-year old, 300,000 acre Flitner Ranch in Shell, Wyoming, you will work in intimate contact with nature through horses. You will be taught that the key to effective communication – whether it is with a horse, an employee, or your boss – depends on your ability to demonstrate four distinct qualities: Empathy, Honesty, Intention, and Focus. You will learn the secrets of non-verbal communication which form the foundation of all interpersonal relationships. As you are taught to communicate with horses, you will learn such skills as:
- Consciousness without constant thoughts
- Contact through feel rather than thought
- Alert awareness of present surroundings
- Leadership by intention
- The power of total honesty
This summer will mark the first time that The Western Challenge will partner with The Hideout – the best in communication training will now be offered at the premiere ranch resort of the West. Don’t miss an opportunity to introduce your company to the most innovative personal training program that has ever been created. Workshop dates for the summer of 2007 will be: June 11-15, June 25-29, July 9-13, August 6-10, and September 10-15.
