Diversity of Terrain
With over 250,000 acres, the Flitner Ranch ranges its livestock from the 4,200 feet elevations of Shell Valley within the Big Horn Basin up into the 8,600 plus elevations of the Bighorn National Forest, which stretches up into the Cloud Peak Wilderness Area. Cloud Peak itself reaching over 13,000 feet.
We offer incredibly diverse riding terrain and spectacular scenery. From the high desert down in Shell Valley with cactus, salt sage, and prehistoric dinosaur tracks combined with the farming of the green valley along creeks and streams.
You will make your way along red rock formations, up rocky or verdant canyons that hide abundant wildlife, through the wide-open range, lush alpine meadows, pine forests, along crystal clear mountain lakes and streams, perhaps up to the eternally snow-capped peaks of the Big Horns.

At The Hideout you can choose how challenging you make your scenic trail riding or cattle drives, according to your ability and preferences.
For your safety and enjoyment, you are always accompanied by at least one of our professional wranglers or cowboys who know the country.
