Arena & Barn at The Hideout
Now you venture within the kingdom of our professional cowboys and wranglers, and able ranch horses. We have an outdoor arena large enough to accommodate any and all Hideout horse activities -- from weekly riding orientation sessions for the guests, scheduled horsemanship seminars, team penning & sorting, to rodeo and other competitive riding events.
Our tack room in the barn is stocked with well-maintained saddles, bridles, and other items of tack. We are a Billy Cook distributor and have different styles of Billy Cook saddles that you can try out. Despite a never-ending war with the enemy: "dust," we keep things tidy and every weekend the tack room is thoroughly cleaned.
In the morning, all horses that will be used that day are brought in and tacked up in the barn by the wranglers. And this is where you return the horses after your ride for the day. For maintenance and cleanliness, the thick wooden floor is cleaned and oiled on a regular basis to keep good footing for the horses.
At the front end of the barn is an indoor round pen where our young horses are trained using Low Impact Training Methods. Guests are welcome to observe our capable horse trainers such as Ramon at work.
The cowboys and wranglers have an office tucked away in the barn where they prepare a CD of photos from the week for you to keep as a remembrance of your stay at The Hideout. Where the events of the day get exchanged and discussed, because they know that providing The Hideout Experience is a continuous journey to excellence.
Trucks & Trailers
The expanse and terrain of the Flitner Ranch (roughly 80 miles from one end to the other) mandates that we maintain a fleet of heavy duty rigs and four-wheel drive vehicles. We do not have trucks older than 5 years. Our horse-hauling trucks and trailers include, amongst other vehicles:
5 Heavy Duty 4X4 Twin-Cab Pick-Up Trucks
5 Aluminum Featherlite Horse Trailers
All trucks equipped with jake brakes, radio communication, and mud/snow chains to assure safety and traction under all conditions. Windows are washed, and water and oil is checked every morning prior to transporting our guests and they are cleaned every weekend.
You are neither customer nor client at the Hideout, but guests of the Flitner family and their dedicated staff, ensuring an excellent experience of authentic western hospitality, worthy of a 100 year heritage. Guests, from around the world, return each year, to renew their friendships, and rejuvenate their hearts and souls, at their home away from home. You, too, can find yourself at The Hideout.
