Marijn wears two hats at The Hideout. She is a wrangler and the wife of General Manager, Peter De Cabooter. Jokingly The Hideout Team often refers to her as “The Boss of the Boss”. Prior to moving over from Brussels, Belgium to Shell, Wyoming, with Peter and their two 18 year old twin sons, Edward and Victor, she had not ridden that much. Marijn’s introduction to Western riding began 16 years ago, with Peter and the boys, when they began visiting The Hideout almost every year for 3 to 4 weeks visiting family, riding trails and working cattle most of the weeks.
Although a city girl and initially a bit timid of horses, trailers, trucks and cows, Marijn has blossomed under the tutorship of Shawn and Ramon. Today Marijn drives trucks and a trailer, rides her own string of horses, two of which are mustangs, and operates as a full Wrangler in the barn. Marijn comes with calm no drama but firm personality and many riders enjoy her company as she is careful and does not take risks when it comes to safety.
Marijn is a riding testimonial of how our horse program can take a less experienced, somewhat fearful rider to become a confident, safe horseperson leading others to enjoy horses in a safe and enjoyable way.
