I. The Classic Cowboy Guest Ranch Program

Aside from horseback riding, participating in cattle work, team penning, riding & horsemanship instruction, The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch offers a variety of other guest ranch activities like trapshooting, hiking, fishing, fly-fishing, etc. However, we are mostly a riding ranch with great cattle work, different levels of cattle work, trail riding, and training.  This has been our classic Guest Ranch Program. You can participate in as much or as little as you desire, while your eventual non-riding partner can enjoy other experiences. Whatever program you sign up for at The Hideout you can rest assured it will not be a Nose to Tail Riding Program.

 

II. Advanced Riding Program – All about Riding !

For the more advanced riders looking for an intensive riding vacation and/or to improve their western horsemanship skills we would like to introduce in our 2011 season a new Equestrian Program that is All About Riding.

This program is designed for the more experienced riders who are looking for the next level of horses and more challenging riding, which consists of cattle work and trail riding at a faster pace. Participants do have to be tested at the beginning of their stay showing that they are able to control their horse in all gates and over various terrains. These programs are guided by some of our more experienced cowboys and wranglers. No matter the level of riding we do at The Hideout, we adopt a Natural Horsemanship Culture respecting our horses under all circumstances.

One of the reasons for adding this program is that many experienced riders are disappointed in some of the riding programs at guest ranches in general, most often not allowing loping and many ranches mainly “Nose to tail” and slow riding given the level of riders.

Even if you sign up for the Intensive Riding Program, you can still participate in the other riding, should you want to take it a bit slower or if your travelling partners participate in the Classic Program. No matter the decision, it is your choice and it is all included at The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch.
