Ramon Castro’s AH Mustangs
We have a string of AH Mustangs trained by Ramon Castro using his unique methods. Some of these Mustangs have participated in The Extreme Mustang Makeover Competitions and have been further fine tuned by Ramon to ride in The Hideout Guest string.
Mustangs are usually smaller compared to Quarter Horses but given their origin they are easy keepers requiring little attention compared to some other breeds, simply because only the strongest and most resistant horses survive in the wild allowing natural selection and breeding resulting in survival of the fittest.
Mustangs are very willing athletic little horses with a very smooth gait.
Supreme Extreme Mustang Makeover
Currently Ramon Castro is training a beautiful 5 year old Palomino Mustang gelding to participate in The Supreme Extreme Mustang Makeover in Ft. Worth, Texas – September 2011. Only a handful of trainers participate in this national competition in which they have 120 days to gentle free roaming wild mustang and ride him to the competition in either Western or English riding disciplines.
Ramon’s mustang comes from The Twin Peaks Mustang herd covering 798,000 acres located in both Lassen County, California and Washoe County in Nevada roaming half desert at elevations of 4,000 to 7,500 feet.
The Palomino Mustang which we named Kicker because of his kicking habits, was only caught and gelded a couple months ago and a is pretty hot wild horse. The origin of this wild horse herd comes from original Spanish Stock; US Cavalry remounts prior to and during World War I and historic ranching stock.
